London has always been a weekend gateway destination for me for years. I lived in London for a year 10 years ago and maybe that’s one of the reasons why I want to come back that often - nostalgia. But I guess it’s also because London is just an awesome city.
Whether it is in the spring, fall, summer or - my favorite - winter. But with the pandemic, I hadn’t been back in two years and it really felt great to be able to come back. There’s something about this city that always makes you want to explore the same places over and over again. There is a reason why certain places are so touristic - they are just worth seeing.
But for once, instead of staying just 2/3 days, I wanted to make it a bit longer to be able to take my time & explore certain parts I hadn’t seen before.
Here are some shots taken of the city during this long weekend.
The incomparable neighborhood of Notting Hill, the iconic Tower Bridge, the cool side of the city ( Brick Lane ), my whole time favorite coffeeshop called Monmouth Coffee in Borough Market and lovely vintage cars randomly found while walking around.
But to be honest, I spent most of my time in the neighborhood of Kensington where our gorgeous London Perfect vacation rental home was located.
From colorful hidden mews, the lively street of Gloucester Road to the beautiful sunrises in Hyde Park (literally a 5min walk from our flat), it was easy to just satisfy myself with walking around the area.
If you want to get a drink, the Queen’s Arms is the best pub you can find around (and only 5 meters away from the flat). Cozy, great staff & an incredible selection of beers, you’ll want to spend your whole evening there.
As for your morning coffee, two great coffee shops come to mind : the Hjem Kensington & the Guillam Coffee House. Crazy good coffee & good vibes in both!
Get lost in the beautiful mews & streets around the block : Queen’s Gate Mews, Kynance Mews, Canning Place, Elvaston Mews, Petersham Mews & Princes Gate Mews. You won’t be disappointed!
Sharing with you some images from the area & see for yourself!
All thanks to London Perfect, we felt right at home in London as we stayed at the MIDDLETON house.
A 3 bedroom home with a cozy living area, located right in Queen’s Gate Mews, a very quiet cobblestone street located just behind the main roads of Queen’s Gate and Gloucester Road. The rental home is only a 5 min walk away from the Royal Albert Hall and a 10 min walk from the Natural History Museum. Greatest thing about the location as well? You’re right next to Hyde Park. If you want to say hello to William & Kate at their Kensington Palace, it’s only a 10min walk! The nearest Subway station is Gloucester Road & it’s only a 10min walk away. You can catch the Piccadilly, Circle & District lines there. But if you want to hop on a famous double deck bus, you’ll find the Bus 49 super close.
But enough about the neighborhood! Let’s talk about the house itself.
The Middleton home feels like a family home. There’s a spacious and well equipped kitchen where you can cook great meals & sit around the table. The two comfy couches + a big chair are perfect for a movie night (or game night!).
The living room/dining room area is extremely charming & comfortable.
On the first floor, you will find one spacious bedroom and en suite bathroom with a big bathtub - perfect for winter nights. There also 2 other beautiful bedrooms and one extra bathroom. If you climb a few more stairs, you will find on the second floor a little bedroom with a pretty desk and… yes! An outdoor terrace! The windows of the bedrooms open up on the cobblestone street and beautiful façades.

It’s safe to say that there is no more perfect place to spend a cozy weekend in London than in a beautiful home close to everything and the Middleton gave us all the perfect gateway weekend vibes we needed to experience the city in the best way.
